What drew you to Redeemer initially?
"For me personally, my faith had turned into "should I come this Sunday or not?" rather than "being joyful to worship the Lord!" My old church was excellent, but for me, the large crowds made it easy to blend in and speak to no one... which is my own laziness coming out. Being a part of a church plant, I figured, was a faith stretcher and I was correct. My faith has been stretched/challenged (however you want to say it) on several occasions." Anonymous Member

"The number one thing that I would want the community to know about Redeemer is that everyone is welcomed and loved. The church is extremely hospitable and loves getting to know newcomers." - Anonymous Member
How is life at Redeemer different from your past experiences with church?
"My life at Redeemer is different because church extends beyond the service. The community is so strong and willing to serve. Also, a lot of people live near to the church so it is really easy to hang out during other times." -Anonymous Member

Our Story
Redeemer is an Anglican church plant that branched off of St. Stephen's Church in Sewickley, PA. Early in 2015, Paul Hassell, Seth Zimmerman, and leadership from St. Stephen's shared their first prayers and thoughts about a starting a new church. After more prayer, discussion, and research, they felt called to the North Boroughs - the area encompassing Emsworth, Ben Avon, Avalon, and Bellevue - just northwest of downtown Pittsburgh. Paul and Seth were finishing up seminary at the same time and both felt God's individual call to church planting ministry. They recognized that there were many churches in the north boroughs already, but that so many people were still not part of a local church. We still believe that the Church is not the building where people gather on a Sunday, but rather the people that gather together in the name of Jesus. Since we arrived in the North Boroughs, we have been encouraged that many of the different churches here are not divided by walls, but rather collaborate whenever possible for the good of the community! In the fall of 2018, the Hassell family moved to Florida to continue their work of planting churches. Seth Zimmerman led Redeemer as our pastor until April 2021. As of July 1, 2021, we are an independent church within the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh and have begun our search for a new pastor.
